Inheritance and gifts
Consult with Dantax if you are planning inheritance and gifts – and do not wait too long. For instance, you can make use of the possibilities of tax-free allowances and the fact that taxation rights differ, depending on the form of the contemplated gift/inheritance – and depending on the beneficiary’s country of residence. But please note that this is a complex issue and that we cannot give you an answer off the top of our heads.
Also, you need to be aware that any transnational aspects could make matters of gifts/inheritance excessively complicated. So, it goes without saying that this is an area which cannot be navigated with a standard list of answers, but only with careful consideration and advice. Here, you benefit from our long experience. We can assist you with reporting gifts/inheritance to the German authorities, and we know the limits of tax-free allowances as well as the German rules on valuations.
Please note: If you have any children or parents living on the other side of the border, you should always familiarise yourself with the different rules before making a bequest. This is also important if they are all living in Denmark but have business interests and premises in Germany.
